17 February Alternative employment agreement not approved by REEF February 17, 2017 By Reef Admin Employment agreements 0 It's come to our attention that a rent roll broker is approaching real estate employers in NSW via email with an alternative template employment agreement. The cost to purchase this agreement is $100 per agreement, $550 for an initial consultation with the broker's preferred lawyer and then additional legal costs to have the document customised to the needs of the individual business. It's important to point out that REEF is not associated in any way with this offering, nor do we endorse it. In response to the apparent widespread distribution of this email, REEF has sought specialist legal advice as to the content, structure and enforceability of this alternative agreement. Having received and considered the legal advice, REEF strongly recommends that members exercise extreme caution if considering use of this alternative template employment agreement. As you are aware, REEF provide members with its own range of template employment agreements which can be found on our website. These have been specifically tailored to the real estate industry, are regularly reviewed and are provided to our members as part of their membership. As such, we're comfortable that our employment agreements better protect you in the relationship between you and your employees, including the legally complex area of post-employment obligations. If you have any questions about this email, please call REEF on (02) 9261 2666.
